Items presented include innovative displays from Jordão, a mini espresso machine from Wacaco, energy recovery systems by Kromo, Simonelli’s novel espresso machine, along with many other ideas.
In terms of marketing and consumption, the out-of-home sector is a paradigm of incremental innovation: this is why Smart Label – Host Innovation Award is of such importance: a global reference point for the most 'out of the box' innovative solutions. Its role in this regard has also been reaffirmed in this edition, with winners not only bringing new, more sustainable ideas in the Green Smart Label category (see article elsewhere in this newsletter), but also with the ‘disruptive’ concepts in the Smart Label and Innovation Smart Label categories.
Ease of use, design, and sustainability
The Innovation Smart Label products offer a kind of innovation that goes beyond consolidated trends. Here's how two of the most representative award-winning companies interpreted the idea. From the Portuguese Jordão comes the Futuro 2 Dual Temperature Display. As R&D&I Director for Jordão, Joana Jordão Lobo explains: “Our innovative Futuro 2 vertical display with dual temperature and heat recovery is an excellent example of the impact we want to have in the world regarding sustainability and social responsibility in an increasingly competitive market where multifunctionality, convenience and operational efficiency are king.”
Another Innovation award went to Wacaco Company for its Minipresso NS2:“ By merging our coffee expertise and engineering know-how into a brand new design, we have conceived our most compact and capable capsule espresso machine yet. Our new Minipresso NS2 combines ease of use, durable materials, and a polished aesthetic to help you brew perfect espresso every time. Designed with sustainability in mind, it helps us pave the way to a greener future,” says digital marketing manager Cédric Gobber.
All-round innovation for the most classic Smart Label
Worth highlighting among the Smart Labels for general innovation is Kromo – Ali Group for its QK Flight Conveyor Range: “The innovative systems for reducing consumption and recovering energy that we present at HOST 2023 on conveyor dishwashers are the result of the vision of sustainability and attention to KROMO's operating costs. The range has been revamped in line with the dictates of efficiency and respect for the environment, while always guaranteeing the same performance level. This Smart Label is recognition of years of work. It honours us and motivates us to continue making every effort in this direction,” says marketing manager Rafaelle Allot.
Also featured in the same Awards is Simonelli Group with Victoria Arduino Eagle Tempo: “Eagle Tempo is born to respect the 'beat': the rhythm of chains, hotels, restaurants, roasters, pastry shops, and bakeries that accompany quality coffee with their products by choosing the design and performance of a recognized brand,” concludes Simonelli’s CEO, Marco Feliziani.
