26 award-winning solutions were chosen by an independent panel of experts from 157 submissions from all over the world. Among the Green Smart Label winners are Jean Dubost, Pedrali, and Rational.
The sixth edition of Smart Label - Host Innovation Award 2023 is making a big comeback, with no fewer than 157 entries submitted. From these, 26 entries have been selected by a jury of independent international experts to receive this recognition of introducing sustainable innovation, which is promoted by HostMilano and Fiera Milano in collaboration with POLI.design and sponsored by ADI, Italy’s Industrial Design Association. All 26 have demonstrated an ability to mark a change of pace in their respective sectors, have been selected. The award ceremony will be held during the trade fair on Friday 13 October.
Five entries have been awarded the Innovation Smart Label, which identifies products with a high innovation content that marks the overcoming of consolidated trends. Six Green Smart Label awards, assigned to proposals with distinctive eco-sustainability characteristics. Finally, 15 products have been awarded the ‘classic’ Smart Label, for products displaying a particularly distinctive innovative content. The Green Smart Label, with its eco-friendly focus, attracted particular attention. “We applied eco-design principles to create a durable, waste-reducing and versatile material, used for various tableware products,” explains Laurence Arthaud, Export Developer, Jean Dubost, who obtained this Label for the Laguiole SENSE collection.
The Green recognition also went to Rational with iCombi Pro: “Rational’s technology is aimed at saving energy and all iCombi Pro models are certified in accordance with the new Energy Star 3.0 standard,” said Enrico Ferri, CEO, Rational Italia.
Concludes Monica Pedrali, CEO of the eponymous company: “The Babila Twist armchair features by a weave handcrafted in Italy. The polypropylene cord ensures a very natural appearance, along with greater resistance to various weather conditions, easy cleaning, and long-lasting durability.”
More generally, 40% of the entries focused on the technological aspect, always one of the strongpoints of HostMilano, while over 23% focused on sustainability. 11% presented an innovative user interface, while 9% proposed efficient energy saving solutions. Innovative materials were also well represented.
