HostMilano 2023 confirms itself as a global hub that anticipates innovation in hospitality

More than 180,000 professional visitors, over 42% of them international from 166 countries, and high quality among both the more than 700 highly profiled hosted buyers and the high spending spontaneous buyers.

An edition that consolidates HostMilano’s leadership as the global reference hub for innovation in hospitality, out-of-home, and food retail. This was the balance at the closing of the 43rd edition, that ended at fieramilano in Rho on Tuesday, 17 October.

Over 180,000 professional visitors attended, with a notable presence of international operators from 166 countries, in excess of 42% of the total. In addition to European countries such as Germany, France, Spain, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom, particularly large delegations were registered from North and South America (1 in 10), Gulf countries, and Asia (approximately 1 in 5).

Figures aside, what stood out was the quality of the business meetings and operators, acknowledged by the markets, not only thanks to the over 700 high-profile hosted buyers who came to Milan, also with the support of ITA-ICE Agency, but also among spontaneous visitors, often represented by decision-makers and high-spending buyers.

New trends were featured also in major events

At HostMilano, innovation has always meant not only new developments in the exhibition path but also education and professional updates in a rich event programme – presenting over 800 events this year – often involving meetings with leading Maestri in various specialties.

There was great anticipation, especially for the debuts, such as ChocolateCulture@Host23 with maître chocolatier Davide Comaschi. Host 2023 also saw the debut of the World Panettone Championship organized by the Academy of Mother Yeast and Italian Panettone Masters, that was won by Italy.

The spotlight was also on the highly anticipated return of Luxury Pastry in the World by Iginio Massari, while numerous championships in collaboration with the most authoritative industry associations generated great enthusiasm among participants and audiences, covering areas from pastry and gelato to coffee and latte art, all the way to pizza. At the forefront of innovation, the Smart Label – Host Innovation Award stood out in this edition as well, the award from Fiera Milano and HostMilano in collaboration with POLI.design and with the patronage of ADI – Industrial Design Association (see article in this issue).

This edition focused on experiential elements, as confirmed by the social media numbers: over 1.4 million impressions for #HostMilano on Instagram. The next edition will take place at fieramilano in Rho from 17 to 21 October 2025.
