World championships, showcooking, symposia and workshops will bring the display area to life courtesy of some of the top world players in the sector.
Every two years, HostMilano offers a huge educational experience, opportunities for professional development and a chance to learn about future trends. The extremely busy calendar is filled with hundreds of events taking place over the five days of the show.
Some of the most high-profile ones concern the coffee, pastry and gelato sectors. One is the world championships of SCA, the Specialty Coffee Association, which is not only a challenge between leading professionals in the respective specialities, but also (as we saw at the 2021 edition), a ‘happening’, a festival and a moment where people can meet to exchange ideas, which is really what HostMilano is all about. And, appropriately enough, they will be returning to SIC, the historic International Coffee Show, which has always been the beating heart of HostMilano.
Meanwhile, Pastry and Gelato will see the return of the championships run by FIPGC, the International Federation of Pastry, Ice Cream and Chocolate: at the World Trophy of Pastry Gelato and Chocolate, the Cake Designers World Championship and The World Trophy of Professional Tiramisù professionals from five continents will battle it out, all hoping to be crowned world champions.
The most innovative products will be singled out again at this edition for a prize that is now internationally recognised in the hospitality sector. The Smart Label – Host Innovation Award, promoted by HostMilano in collaboration with POLI.design and sponsored by ADI – the Italian Industrial Design Association recognises the most innovative products and services in the hospitality sector in three categories: the Smart Label for products with distinctive innovative content; the Innovation Smart Label for products with high innovation content that overcomes established trends, and the Green Smart Label for products with high innovation content and distinctive features regarding energy saving, environmental compatibility and eco-sustainability.
There will also be Design Talks: professional development seminars on today’s highly topical issues, in collaboration with POLI.design.
Digital transition, sustainability, skills: the major challenges facing the foodservice industry will be covered by events in the FIPE – the Italian Federation of Public Concerns area, while FCSI will be running seminars and a full programme of events (presentations, workshops and round table debates) with non-stop discussions on the future of hospitality. No less intriguing is the theme that has been given to the APCI, the Professional Association of Italian Chefs area: Smart Food, Smart Chefs, Smart Future.
Also returning to HostMilano is the Food-Technology Lounge – a point of reference for Italian-made technologies relating to the world of food and Ho.Re.Ca., a space in which to find out about new developments and meet others. It will be run by ANIMA, the Federation of Mechanical and Engineering Industries and EFCEM Italia.
