Technology, sustainability and design: the most innovative solutions seen by those who came to Milan to understand which products, today, represent the future of hospitality.
There was great expectation among international buyers about the solutions that would be found at Host21, because the hospitality of the future, that of recovery, would be staged. They found high technology and attention to the environment, robotics, customization but also durability and good value for money.
Canadian Wesley Farnell, interested in equipment and machinery for coffee and in particular for specialty coffee, is happy to be back because he saw the finished products derived from the prototypes presented two years ago by the companies. “I am interested in single-portion specialties and I am observing an increase in quality in this segment as well. There are many new capsule machines that have reached exceptional levels”.
He found the sustainability that Mohammed Muravvar from the United Arab Emirates was looking for in the field of coffee machines, kitchen equipment, outdoor furniture. “The issue of sustainability interests me enormously, I am looking for new suppliers who are going in that direction. At Host21 I found systems for filtering water with a new filterless technology, plastic-free hospitality products for guests, recyclable materials. In the Emirates there is great attention to organic, sustainable products with high durability and good value for money".
Medhat Etman from Egypt considers technology the most relevant element, with very innovative new solutions: "I was very impressed, for example, by a robot waiter; I find it very useful and technological, even if the human factor is missing".
Omar Mazzei from the USA noticed at the event that vegan food is becoming increasingly popular. He also found many new very interesting design solutions. Among the increasingly growing trends, eco-friendly and environmentally friendly products are also included. "I think that Italy is the home of the topics covered by Host, and from Italy the global trends start and spread all over the world. These trends are in Italy already very strong and developed, while my impression is that in the USA, and in particular in Miami where I come from, they are still at the beginning".
A “veteran” of HostMilano - that of October was its third edition - Tommi Forsman from Finland arrived knowing that he was already finding new trends and indications for the future to come. He, who is in charge of supplying large-scale manufacturers, such as schools and hospitals, was particularly impressed with the cooking and cooling equipment.
“In Norway, customers ask me for more and more products with low CO2 emissions, refrigerants with low environmental impact and systems with energy efficiency - explains Øyvind Skår Selboe, a wholesaler of the Horeca system - at Host you can find everything: in fact, all the big names were present”.
