Tableware leads the way, the figures show, but by 2025 a major contribution to growth will come from professional foodservice.
Exportplanning also provided a snapshot of Italian imports from Spain, which is one of the best represented foreign countries at HostMilano: it stood at 172 million euros in terms of products present in 2021 at the leading hospitality fair, the next edition of which will be held at FieraMilano Rho from 13 to 17 October 2023.
Between 2022 and 2025 it is expected that Italian imports of HostMilano products from Spain will reach nearly 217 million euros (with CAGR of +5.9%), and the greatest contribution to growth will come from Professional Foodservice (+22.5 million euros, CAGR a +7.6%). In 2021 Italian imports from Spain stood at 66.4 million euros, and by 2025 this is likely to rise to around 89 million euros.
The biggest segment by value for sales from Spain is that of electric ovens, hobs and cookers (23 million euros), followed by cookware (14.6 million euros) and other electro-mechanical equipment (11.5 million euros).
Italy is Spain’s fourth largest market for sales in the sector, accounting for 5.1 % of total exports. Meanwhile, Spain is Italy’s seventh largest trading partner, with 4.4 % of total imports, a long way behind China and Germany.
The most significant sales of Spanish products to Italy, however, regards are of Tableware, with 94 million euros and forecast to rise to around 112 million euros in 2025 (CAGR +4.4%). This is 5.7% of Italian imports in the sector, making Spain Italy’s sixth largest trading partner, behind China, Pakistan, France, Germany and Turkey. Italy is Spain’s third largest market for its exports (with 9.8%), behind France and Portugal. A breakdown of the sector reveals that most sales are in the segments of home textiles (47.7 million euros in 2021, due to rise to 58.1 million euros in 2025, with a CAGR +5%) and of glassware and crockery (39.6 million euros, rising to more than 45.4 million euros in 2025).
Spanish sales to Italy of Coffee-making Machinery and Vending Machines (10.5 million euros with a forecast of 14.8 million euros for 2025 (CAGR +8.9%) account for 11.1% of Italian imports for the sector, making Spain Italy’s second largest trading partner behind Germany. Spanish sales on the Italian market, meanwhile, account for 6% of exports in the sector. Most sales are in coffee-making machinery (10.2 million euros, which should exceed 14 million euros in 2025, with a CAGR of +9.1%).
Italian imports of Bread Baking and Pastry-making Machinery from Spain, which totalled 1.1 million euros, account for 4.1% of Italian imports in the sector and mean that Spain is the ninth largest country Italy imports from. Spanish sales on the Italian market, on the other hand, account for 3.1% of total exports from Spain.
