What buyers want: the tops at Host2021 looking for the future

From all over the world they will converge in Milan not only to find the latest product innovations, but also to have a look at the most current trends and exchange views on the path that hospitality is taking.

It will be the charge of 500 (and more): they are the buyers who, with the support of ICE/ITA Agenzia, will arrive at Host2021 from 41 countries from North and South America, Europe, the Middle East, Russia, representing the most interesting global markets. To these will be added the top visitors linked to the partnerships that the event has signed with about thirty of the most important Italian and international associations. But what do buyers expect to find at the International Hospitality Exhibition?

Jonathan Abai, sales director of Renarte North America, will arrive from Canada without looking for a specific product, but, as in previous editions, he will start with two or three new brands to complete the portfolio. As for the trends of the moment, “I suppose the main one is the products that offer customers/guests peace of mind on the Covid front. I trust there will be some very innovative products that will do just that".

Being able to participate in Host in person is essential when looking for new products. “Anyone who has a showroom knows the advantages of being able to interact with products, and HostMilano is a huge showroom! Also, when you are planning to add a new line to your portfolio you need to make sure it is fully controlled, which is difficult to do via photos and online conversations. The ability to pick up, feel and interact with the product is extremely important".

He doesn't know what Murat Aslan, kitchen coordinator of Turkey's Big Chefs will find in terms of innovation. But he is sure that at Host2021 he will encounter many innovations in the areas that interest him, namely equipment, tools, tableware and decorations for restaurants and hotels. “As technology develops around the world, equipment that makes work easier also influences trends. Among those I see at the moment are simplicity and naturalness in the decoration". Of the event in attendance he says: “Host is one of the best trade shows in the world and you can meet a lot of people, see new details and do business. I will be there for innovation, future investments, and exchange of ideas".

Kevin Maradie, sales director of American Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, at HostMilano is looking for luxury furnishings and equipment, supplies and sustainable operational equipment. “It's an exploratory journey, we hope to network and see the latest trends and products”; knowing that the environment and sustainability are in the spotlight and will continue to be in the future for hospitality.

Why will he be at HostMilano? “Networking requires a human touch and seeing each other in person adds a dimension that technology cannot replace. We are thrilled to participate in this event”.

Kim Hall Hatcher of The Wasserstrom Company will also arrive from the USA and will focus on the novelties in tableware: porcelain, glassware, cutlery, trendy accessories. “Among the trends, the matt finish and colors like ivory, black, brass and copper are very present and sought after. We try to move away from classic white with new ideas on how to serve and create an experience for our customers".

The live event is very important: “In our industry we need to be able to touch and feel the products. I am always looking for new ideas to bring to my clients and when I see something very exciting at HostMilano I will let them know. This is the largest event in our industry, so being there is essential. Los Angeles is a leading market in hospitality and has many top chefs. People rely on me to learn about new ideas and trends in our industry”.
