Foodservice and tableware come to Italy from Benelux

Trade in Host products recorded sales of 223 million euros in 2022 and exports to Italy are expected to grow between now and 2026 with a CAGR of 8.8%. 

Italian imports from the Benelux area were worth around 223 million euros in preliminary figures for 2022 (based on the first nine months of the year), a lower figure than that for Italian exports to the Low Countries. The most significant sectors are Professional Foodservice and Tableware, which stood at 105 and 107 million euros respectively. For 2023-2026 ExportPlanning forecasts that Italian imports of HostMilano products from the Benelux area will be close to 313 million euros, thanks to a CAGR (Compound Annual Growth Rate) of +8.8%.

 

Italian imports from the Benelux area in the Professional Foodservice sector were worth 105.2 million euros, and between 2023 and 2026 this should grow to a CAGR of +10.3%, and 156 million euros by the end of the next five years.

 

The most relevant segment by sales values in this sector is food mixers, citrus fruit presses and vegetable juice extractors (28.9 million euros in 2022, which should reach 42 million euros by 2026 with a CAGR of +9.8%), followed by refrigeration equipment (25.8 million euros, and expected to reach 31.8 million euros in 2026), electric files and other electromechanical devices (23 million euros forecast to rise to 35.6 million euros in 2026; CAGR +11.4%) and saucepans and cooking pans (17 million euros with a forecast of 29.1 million euros for 2026; CAGR +14.4%).

 

Italy is the sixth largest market for exports of products in the sector from Benelux, accounting for 3.1% of total exports. For Italy, on the other hand, sales from Benelux account for 6% of imports in the division (3.2% from Belgium, 2.7% from the Netherlands and 0.1% from Luxembourg).

 

In Tableware, sales from Benelux to the Italian market are worth more: 107.4 million euros in 2022, a figure that is expected to exceed 145 million euros in 2026 (CAGR +7.8%). They account for 4.7% of Italian imports in the sector, and that should rise to 5.3% by 2026. In terms of the countries Benelux exports to, on the other hand, Italy was again the sixth largest market in 2022, with an incidence of 2.9%.

 

Benelux sales on the Italian market in Coffee-making Equipment and Vending Machines (5.4 million euros in 2022, expected to rise to 6.2 million euros in 2026) account for 4.1% of all Italian imports in the sector (3.1% from the Netherlands and 1% from Belgium). For Benelux, meanwhile, sales to the Italian market account for just 1.6% of all its exports in the sector (with Italy ranking 14th).

 

The bulk of sales is generated by the coffee-machine segment (5 million euros exported in preliminary figures for 2022, expected to rise to 5.7 million euros in 2026; CAGR +3.6%).

 

Italian imports of Bread-baking and Pastry-making Equipment from Benelux, finally, total 4.9 million euros and account for 13.1% of Italian imports in the sector (11.9% from the Netherlands, 1.2% from Belgium). Meanwhile, sales on the Italian market (the 17th largest destination) account for 1.5% of total exports from Benelux in this sector.

 

Bread-baking equipment is the largest segment for exports from Benelux to Italy, with 2.6 million euros in 2022; machinery for making pasta products contribute another 2.3 million euros.
