THE CAFETERIA GRAND PRIX 2025: AN INTERNATIONAL EVENT OF EXCELLENCE

 

The Gran Premio della Caffetteria, established in 2009, is held every two years at HostMilano, the world's leading event for professional hospitality and food retail. This prestigious event aims to enhance the coffee barista and coffee-based products on a national and international level, promoting excellence in the art of coffee and Italian food and wine.

 

The Gran Premio della Caffetteria focuses on the methods for preparing espresso coffee and its derivatives according to the Italian method recognised by the Aicaf. The event also aims to promote Italian food and wine through the integration of local products with coffee, creating a unique and innovative combination.

 

 

Participation and Competition

 

The competition is open to baristas, barmen and cafeteria workers operating in Italy, as well as baristas from Aicaf member nations such as Croatia, Morocco and Mexico. This inclusiveness makes the Gran Premio della Caffetteria a truly international event, enriched by cultural diversity and different interpretations of the art of coffee.

 

 

Competition Trials

 

Participants in the competition will have to face several tests that will put their technical skills and creativity to the test:

 

  - **Workstation Set-up and Preparation:** Competitors must set up and organise their workstation in an efficient and functional manner.

 

  - **Beverage Preparation:** Each competitor must prepare and serve the jury two cappuccinos, two espressos and two coffee-based cold drinks at the same time.

 

  - **Restoration of the Workstation:** At the end of the preparation, competitors must rearrange and unarrange their workstation, showing organisational skills and attention to detail.

 

Participants in the competition will have to face several tests that will put their technical skills and creativity to the test:

 

  - **Workstation Set-up and Preparation:** Competitors must set up and organise their workstation in an efficient and functional manner.

 

  - **Beverage Preparation:** Each competitor must prepare and serve the jury two cappuccinos, two espressos and two coffee-based cold drinks at the same time.

 

  - **Making up the Workstation:** At the end of the preparation, competitors must tidy up and unpack their workstation, showing organisational skills and attention to detail.

 

 

Presentation and Evaluation

 

The competition features a spoken presentation, in which the contestants illustrate the products they have developed, explaining the techniques they have used and their choice of ingredients. In addition, contestants can be interviewed by the competition presenter, offering further details about their creations and their professional approach.
