An app that offers options for gluten-intolerant clients

From the Associazione Italiana Celiachia (AIC) Lombardia non-profit organization

For the fourth consecutive edition, the Associazione Italiana Celiachia (AIC) Lombardia non-profit organization will be on hand at Host 2017, the International Hospitality Exhibition,  with its professionals and volunteers, to offer information about celiac disease and gluten-free cooking. The idea is also to educate restaurant and hotel owners in order to make sure that customers with celiac disease can be properly accommodated.

In fact, more and more hotels, restaurants and establishments would like to expand their offerings to include gluten-free options. In order to give these places more visibility, AIC offers the Progetto Alimentazione Fuori Casa (AFC) – meaning “Eating Outside the Home Project” – which for a few years now has offered a dedicated app called AIC Mobile, which can be downloaded for free. It has all of the addresses of where people can eat gluten-free safely.

The AFC is the association’s leading project, and today it lists about 4,000 establishments in all of Italy, including 360 in Lombardy alone. These include restaurants, pizzerias, farm holiday homes, hotels, B&Bs, bars, gelaterias, amusement parks, mountain lodges and artisanal crafting facilities. This is a service for those with celiac disease and an opportunity for establishments as well, which is managed with the utmost seriousness, awareness and professionalism.

There will also be gluten-free cooking demonstrations and tastings in collaboration with the Associazione Cuochi di Milano e Provincia. Any and all questions and concerns about celiac disease and gluten-free diets can be answered at the AIC stand.
