HostMilano and TUTTOFOOD: at fieramilano the successful pairing between the Ho.Re.Ca and food & beverage sectors becomes global leader
Milan, 23 January 2020. - Food & beverage in its many different facets. In addition to every single one of the supply chains that make up the Ho.Re.Ca. universe. The city of Milan is now recognised internationally as an essential hub for production sectors, know-how, trends and consumer habits, including the Food Service Equipment and food sectors, and the pairing of the two fairs that takes place every two years at Fieramilano has absolutely nothing to fear in terms of competition. Both events are leaders in a marketplace which is the ideal meeting ground not only for brands Made in Italy and international buyers, but also for “foreign to foreign” demand and supply.
This is a format that is embodied perfectly in the win-win unison between the “software” of TUTTOFOOD, the quintessential appointment for the agri-food sector and quality food, and the ”hardware” of HostMilano, the undisputed world leader of events dedicated to all-round hospitality year after year.
The success of past editions of both events looks like being repeated again in 2021. Proof comes from the over 1,200 companies that have already registered to attend the next editions of TUTTOFOOD (from 17 to 20 May 2021) and HostMilano (from 22 to 26 October 2021).
Ho.Re.Ca and agri-food: the business that just keeps on growing
That the future figures of TUTTOFOOD and HostMilano are going to follow in the footsteps of the 2019 editions can be seen from the unstoppable evolution of the professional hospitality and agri-food sectors, both of which are growing constantly in Italy and abroad.
For the Ho.Re.Ca sector, confirmation comes from the figures supplied by ANIMA ASSOFOODTEC - the Italian Association of manufacturers of machinery, systems and equipment for food production, processing and storage, which indicate a production value of 5,261 million euro for the “Technologies and equipment for food products” category in 2019 (+0.2% in 2019 compared to 2018, after the +1.3% of 2018 on 2017), with an export value of brands Made in Italy touching 3,478 million euro and recording particular growth (+2.8%) in the “Coffee Machines” segment, thanks mainly to the success of Asian countries like China and South Korea. Equally encouraging figures arrive in relation to the gelato industry, with the 13 leading Italian companies in the production of machines for this sector controlling 90% of the world market, with a turnover of 229 million euro. And if we look abroad, the major export markets are represented by the European Union, while demand from emerging markets, primarily the United States and the Far East, is growing. As far as raw materials, and particularly coffee, are concerned, according to the latest report by the ICO (International Coffee Organization) production has grown by more than 30% in the last decade (from 128 million bags in 2009-10 to an estimated 167.4 for 2019-20), with consumption rising from about 130 million bags in the 2009 calendar year to an estimated 167.9 for 2019. The stagnation that has characterised the frozen food market in large-scale distribution for some time now seems to be behind us. According to IRI data, this market is worth almost 1.8 billion euro at Italian level, and the latest available figures for the end of 2019 indicate an encouraging +0.9% compared to the year before, with a sales value of 1,886 million euro. Finally, "sweet" sales are also on the rise, having recorded percentages ranging from +4.4% for spreads to +0.7 for fresh foods in November 2019.
